To drive in Sharjah as in any other Emirate, you have to own a valid driving license and to know the general rules of driving. Speed limits in this Emirate varies between 40-70 km per hour on the inner city roads, and up to 100-120 km per hour - on the highway. It is strictly forbidden to drive a car while intoxicated. If you ignore traffic rules and regulations, you will be drawn to an administrative responsibility
If you have not any driving experience or your driving license is not issued in one of the 36 approved countries, you need to be trained in an authorized driving school.
If you have a valid driver's license from an approved list of countries together with a residence visa, you can exchange them for Sharjah one.
If you wish to apply for a new driving license, you will need to register in the Sharjah Driving Institute or in any of certified driving schools in Sharjah.
Required Documents
On an appointed date and time, trainees have to pass a theory test and the road test to get the right drive in Sharjah and the UAE.
If you fail, you will need to take seven more classes of training. If you pass, during a few days you will be able to get your new driving license.
